Updates to the All Payer Claims Database (APCD) Data Submission Guide

The All Payer Claims Database (APCD) is the database where medical and pharmacy insurance claim information is housed. (Read more about the APCD here.) The Data Submission Guide (DSG) is the manual created to give guidance and requirements to the payers (also called insurers or carriers) on what information needs to be submitted to the APCD. Payers are legally required to submit their medical and pharmacy claims information to OHCS. Read more about the laws here.

Over the summer, OHCS worked with the Health Data Committee (HDC), payers, and other stakeholders to make updates and changes to the data submission guide. The changes reflect the ongoing work of OHCS to obtain quality data from payers, as quality data is needed to ensure the data is useful for potential healthcare improvement and research purposes.
